Okay, so the game itself hasn't really been in development for 80 years, but the art style looks like it leapt right out of the 1930's. I saw this game ever so briefly in the lineup of games featured on the ID@Xbox developer program and mistakenly identified it as a fighter game, given the small fight scene I was able to see was highlighting a fight between our hero, Cuphead and some large blue... thing. Evidently, that was a boss the Cuphead encounters at some point along the way.
In fact, Cuphead is not a fighter, but is more of an action game, that... well, Studio MDHR describes it like this:
"Cuphead is a classic run and gun action game heavily focused on boss battles. Inspired by cartoons of the 1930's, the visuals and audio are painstakingly created with the same techniques of the era, i.e. traditional cel animation (hand drawn & hand inked!), watercolor backgrounds, and original jazz recordings. Play as Cuphead or Mugman (in Single Player or Co-Op) as you traverse strange worlds, acquire new weapons, learn powerful super moves, and discover hidden secrets. Cuphead is all action, all the time."
MDHR also had this (very) brief teaser trailer offering a glimpse of a boss named "Captain Silver":
Cuphead is coming to the Xbox One - other platforms are possible, but are up in the air at this time. (So, just to be safe, if you don't already have an Xbone, I guess go snap one up... and for a lower price now).
